  1. It is not unusual for there to be fights and
  2. scuffles during pro hockey games. But
  3. Mike refused to participate in them. He
  4. believed that fighting was unnecessary
  5. and that it took away from the game. 
  6. Mike's rule was to keep his mind on
  7. hockey and scoring -- no matter what
  8. anybody did to distract him. And that he
  9. did very well. Mike won three Lady Byng
  10. trophies for gentlemanly play.  He also
  11. had an 11-year total of 210 penalty
  12. minutes, which is half the single-season
  13. total for some players.
